Happy Thursday to you, and welcome to "5 Things You Need to Know Today." Each weekday we'll be putting a little extra spotlight on some of the things that are going on in the Syosset area. While we do our best to keep up with what's going on, we can always use your help. If you don't see something that should be on the list, don't be afraid to let us know!

1. The Syosset Public Library hosts a today from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30p.m. The bus will make two stops: the first at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (5th ave. and 81st street) and the second at Trump Tower (5th ave. and 56th street), and the pick up will be at the Trump Tower. The cost is $25 per person (round trip, check only) and check with the library to see if there are any open spaces left! Call them at 516-921-7161.

2. The continues today at 4 p.m. outside the Astoria Savings Bank on Jackson Ave. Join Rabbi Jay Weinstein and friends of Congregation Simchat HaLev to light the Menorah!

3. The Syosset bowling team at 4:15 p.m. at Farmingdale Lanes, so come out and support the team!

4. The Syosset boys basketball team continues their season tonight at 6:15 p.m. when they in a non-league matchup!
