Eat Local: Dom and Luigi's Smoke House

The restaurant is conveniently located on Jericho Turnpike and offers customers a vast selection of food.

You could stand on a corner and look around until a restaurant sign draws you in. But we've got a better idea. Each week, Syosset Patch picks a great restaurant either in town or nearby that is worth checking out. Here's this week's choice:

Appetizers: Dom and Luigi’s famous chili ($10) is served in a huge bowl with melted cheese. Seafood starters, such as baked or grilled clams, are served with drawn butter, or select either fried or grilled calamari ($10). Or try the usual, yet delicious, Italian starters such as, mozzarella sticks ($7), Chicken Fingers ($7) and Fried Ravioli ($9) that are breaded and fried to perfection.

Try the popular Buffalo Chicken, BBQ Shrimp or Smoked Pulled Pork BBQ Sushi Rolls. Enjoy Louisiana Crab Cakes ($12) with special spicy mayo or fully loaded fresh cut fries smothered with cheese and bacon ($8).

Entrees: It's difficult to decide what to order at Dom and Luigi's, with pizza, pasta, hero's and burger options. The BBQ Brisket ($11) is rubbed and smoked for six hours, then braised making it juicy and tender, piled high on house rolls. The highly popular 12 oz Porker Burger ($14) is stuffed with slow smoked rib meat grilled to perfection, then topped with marinated pulled pork, bacon and cheddar cheese.

Dom and Luigi’s hero’s are served with their homemade bread. Or try the meatball, chicken, eggplant, shrimp or veal parmesan. Nine types of pizza are on the menu, including artichoke, alla vodka, pulled pork and reverse sicilian. Other Italian options include alla vodka ($12), homemade lasagna ($11), baked ziti ($10), and linguini with fresh little neck clams in either a red or white sauce ($15).

For the kids, Dom and Luigi’s offers a junior hamburger, chicken fingers, mac n cheese or mozzarella sticks, all served with fries and priced at $6.

Sides: All side dishes are $5 and range from a variety of vegetables in garlic and oil, like broccoli rabe, to fried dishes, such as sweet potato fries. They also have a 10, 25 or 50 count of monster smoked, glazed BBQ or buffalo chicken wings, with mild, medium or blistering sauce.

Service: Wait time for tables can be long on Friday and Saturday nights, but servers are quick to deliver drinks and starters once you sit down.
