Former Syosset Teacher Goes Back to Court

Ian Edrich, a former Thompson Middle School teacher, had a bench trial on Tuesday.

Ian Edrich, a former teacher, had a bench trial at First District Court in Hempstead on Tuesday. Edrich was arrested on charges of child endangerment in 2010 after allegedly making inappropriate comments to a 13-year-old male student.

Edrich's arrest came after the mother of one of his students discovered a journal kept between Edrich and her son. Edrich allegedly chose this student as his "favorite" and in developing a relationship, made inappropriate sexual comments to him. Police arrested him in January 2010 for child endangerment and he has been in and out of court almost 20 times since then.
