Get Out Weekend Planner: Oct 21-23

We found some fantastic events going on around town this weekend.

1. Homecoming

Where/When: football field; Oct. 22, 1:30 p.m.

Why Go: Homecoming is the biggest sports event of the year for any high school. Cheer the Syosset Braves as they challenge the Uniondale Knights.

2. Syosset Fall Festival

Where/When: centers around the at Jackson Ave and Underhill Blvd; Oct. 22 and Oct. 23, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Why Go: Finally, a fall festival just down the street! Walk around the neighborhood you know and love with family and friends, grab some food, go antiquing and browse through the fall crafts made right in Syosset.

Pricing: FREE admission

 

3. World War II Memorial Rededication

Where/When: Woodbury Firehouse, 150 Woodbury Road; 11 a.m.

Why Go: Pay your respects to members of the Greatest Generation who lost their lives in World War II. The memorial once stood at the Syosset High School, but has been moved to the Woodbury Firehouse.

Pricing: FREE

Where/When: ; Preview on Friday, 4-8p.m.; book sale runs Sat., 10 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Sun. 12:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Why Go: Pick up some new books or donate some used ones. The library's book sale is a great opportunity to trade books with friends to find something new. Find fiction, non fiction, mystery, children's, cooking and arts & crafts books. You never know what you'll find!

Pricing: FREE admission, cheap books 

 

5. Lacrosse Tag Sale/Car Wash

Where/When: 246 Split Rock Road where the street intersects with Calvin Ave, 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Why Go: Get that red and black homecoming paint off your car and help out the boys lacrosse team at the same time. The team is getting a head start on fundraising by holding a car wash and tag sale this weekend.

Pricing: $5 per car for the car wash, great deals on all tag sale items.
