Harvest House Takes Center Stage

Home hopes to be blueprint for senior living.

Tuesday morning, the Harvest Houses residence for well elders held a breakfast attended by Legis. Judy Jacobs, local Syosset/Woodbury Rotary Club members, bank managers, clergy and business leaders. 

Harvest House administration, Executive Director Sister Jeanne A. Brendel, O.P., and Assistant Director Sister Mary E. Butler, O.P., shared their experience as members of a New York State committee regarding education for the growing movement to create "livable communities" throughout the state.

Due to the lack of affordable housing in New York State, especially on Long Island, elders are leaving in alarming numbers.
