Jan. 16: Remembering Dr. King

Five things to remember on this federal holiday.

 

Patch will also follow a holiday schedule with only a few important posts today, but will return to the normal amount of posts tomorrow.

1. , , and schools in the are closed in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

2. Today is a federal holiday which means no mail, no banks and no DMV. Most retail stores and restaurants however, will remain open.

3. The will be open, and the AARP Driver Safety Course is still scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Be sure to call the library ahead as some events have limited availability.

4. The westbound LIRR schedule will remain the same today, while the eastbound service will add the following holiday train:

4:05 p.m. DEPART Penn Station
4:59 p.m. ARRIVE

**Off peak fares will be in effect all day Monday.
