LIRR Delays Continue Friday

Multiple trains canceled as workers try to put final touches on repairs.

LIRR riders can once again expect delays and cancellations Friday morning as railroad crews continue repair work and testing as a result of damage to a major switching tower at Jamaica Station earlier this week.

Even though a majority of the repair work has been completed, the Friday morning service plan includes a cancellation of 33 westbound trains.

While the LIRR will again be running 75 percent of the 144 trains that normally operate, the following Friday morning westbound trains have been canceled:

* The 6:38 a.m. Huntington train due in Atlantic Terminal at 7:36 a.m.

* The 7:12 a.m. Huntington train due in Penn Station at 8:10 a.m.

* The 7:28 a.m. Cold Spring Harbor train due in Penn Station at 8:25 a.m.

While 68 percent of the LIRR's regular 127 trains during the evening rush hour will be operating, the following eastbound trains have been canceled:

Huntington

* The 2:54 p.m. from NY due in Huntington at 3:59 p.m.

* The 5:06 p.m. from NY due in Huntington at 6:07 p.m.

* The 5:29 p.m. from Atlantic Terminal due in Huntington at 6:28 p.m.

* The 6:56 p.m. from NY due in Huntington at 8:04 p.m.

Hicksville

* The 5:33 p.m. from NY due in Hicksville at 6:29 p.m.

* The 6:01 p.m. from NY due in Hicksville at 6:45 p.m.

* The 6:35 p.m. from NY due in Hicksville at 7:22 p.m.
