North Syosset GOP Honors Three at Lincoln Dinner

A record 650 attended the 56th Annual Lincoln Day Dinner at Crest Hollow Country Club.

The North Syosset-Woodbury Republican Committee (NSWRC) hosted the 56th annual Lincoln Day dinner Thursday at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury. A record 650 members from various Nassau committees came to see the Honorable Louis Savinetti and two other couples honored for their services.

Savinetti, currently the Nassau Board of Elections Republican Commissioner,  was presented with the Lincoln Day Award for his career as a public servant. George and Rose Melillo, the founders of the Melillo Foundation, which strives to help autistic children, were presented with the Huminatarian Award. William and Cliff Chabina were presented with the Business Award.

"I've worked for the MTA, the Town of Oyster Bay, and now I'm with the Board of Elections," said Savinetti. "I've had a wonderful career."

"This is an exemplary organization and they work tirelessly on behalf of every person and every organization in the community," he said of the NSWRC.

The Humanitarian Award recipients have plans to improve further.

"We started the Melillo Foundation eight years ago," said George Melillo. "Eventually, we hope to have a sustainable community for the autistic, so they can be on their own, funded through the non-profit.

Other honorees included William and Clifford Chabina of the William J. Chabina Company, Inc. for Outstanding Leader in Business.

Master of ceremonies, North Syosset-Woodbury Executive , said he was pleased with the turnout, and hoped that it would be a sign of things to come for the Republican Committee.
