Oct. 8: Columbus Day, Lorax

A rundown of events and reminders for Monday in Syosset and Woodbury.

1. Syosset schools, Our Lady of Mercy Academy, and St. Edward's School will be closed for Columbus Day. Enjoy the day off and go exploring.

2. Monday will be a crisp fall day with temperatures hitting 56 degrees and overcast skies into the afternoon.

3. Oyster Bay Town Hall offices will be closed for Columbus Day. Sanitation and recycling collections will run as normal.

4. Monday is Shmini Atzeret. Simchat HaLev holds family services for Simchat Torah, which begins at sundown.

5. Events at Syosset Library:

  • 11 a.m. Meet Llama Llama!
  • 2:30 p.m. Children's Movie: The Lorax

Be sure to call the library ahead as some events have limited capacities.
