Severe weather overnight knocked out power to much of Long Island, with the Town of Oyster Bay seeing its effects in the form of widespread power outages.
The Long Island Power Authority reports more than 10,000 customers were without power townwide as of 8:00 a.m. Thursday, including 190 in Syosset and another 80 in Woodbury.
The National Weather Service reported gusts of 60 mph, which could bring down tree limbs or whole trees.
A high wind advisory is in effect for northern Nassau County through 6 p.m. Thursday.
