Purim Comes to Syosset

Festivities include Megillah readings, costumes and more.

Purim begins Saturday evening. Port Washington synagogues all have services and celebrations planned. Purim is the chance to sample hamantashen, dress in fun costumes and spread cheer across Syosset and Woodbury.

Below are just some of the festivities:

North Shore Synagogue hosts a Purim Wine and Beer Tasting and a live auction Saturday at 8 p.m. On Sunday, the synagogue holds Purim services and a Megillah reading at 10:30 a.m.

Midway Jewish Center holds a Shaharit Service and Megillah Reading Sunday at 9 a.m., followed by a carnival at 10 a.m.

Woodbury Jewish Center holds Minyan at 9 a.m. Sunday and 7 a.m. Monday.

Oyster Bay Jewish Center holds a Family Evening Service with Megilah reading at 7 p.m. Students are required to attend.

Town of Oyster Bay Chabad holds an 11 a.m. Megillah reading. At 11:30 a.m. Sunday, they hold a party with acrobats, raffles for all who come in costume, and delicious Hamentaschen, pizza, and drinks. The party is held at Mid-Island Y J C C in Plainview.
