Question of the Day: Is Your House Tornado-Proof?

Have a plan to address severe weather emergencies.

A tornado watch is in effect for Nassau until 8 pm. Are you prepared?

Considering the damage done by twisters ripping through the Midwest, it may be worth the time to ensure your house is severe weather ready. The experts at www.weather.com suggest removing any unsecured debris outside the house, having a three-day supply of food and water, and knowing your community's severe weather warning system, including shelter locations. The Town of Oyster Bay has its own emergency notification system called SWIFT911 that disseminates severe weather alerts and evacuation information. You can register up to three numbers and an email address with the TOB SWIFT911 system here

Our question for Wednesday is: Are you prepared in the case of a weather-related emergency?
