Question of the Day: Memorial Day Traditions

Big Bash or Relaxing Respite?

Everyday, we're going to be asking Syosset residents a question to answer. It could be a pressing local issue, it could be about events around the area, or we could just be having some fun.

Whatever it is, we want your opinion.

Memorial Day is so many things to Americans. It’s a day to remember and thank those who have fallen serving our country, the start of summer, and an excuse to buy tricked-out grills. For the born-hosts and social butterflies of the USA nothing is more exciting than going to Costco to load up on tubs of ketchup, a whole cows-worth of hamburger meat and enough soda to launch the next space shuttle to the moon. Others prefer a relaxing respite by the pool or some watermelon shared among family on the beach.

Our question for Sunday is: How do you do it at your house or in your ‘hood? Are you a take-it-easy person or do you pull out all the stops for a big bash? Does the whole neighborhood get together for a block party?
