Robbins Lane Holds Emergency Blood Drive Tuesday

Syosset elementary school responds to post-Sandy crisis.

Robbins Lane Elementary will be holding an emergency blood drive Tuesday to help the New York Blood Center.

The drive, held in the school cafeteria from 3:15-9:15 p.m. Tuesday, was set up in response to a large amount of cancelled donations in Sandy's wake.

"New York Blood Center has lost approximately 6,000 units of blood due to cancellations as a result of Hurricane Sandy," explained a flier for the drive.

To be eligible to donate in this drive, a donor:

  • Must have a valid ID.
  • Must weigh at least 110 pounds.
  • Must be 16-76 years old.
  • Can not have gotten any tattoos in the past 12 months.

Walk-ins will be welcome.
