Syosset Couple Hosts Horses for Memorial Day

Annual breakfast precedes the main event.

Some houses go to the dogs, but on Memorial Day in Syosset it was horses holding court at the home of Bill and Ginny Uhlinger.

The couple hosts an annual breakfast that precedes the Syosset Memorial Day Parade, and some of the parade's marquee marchers were on hand.

Horses and their riders from the Rough Rider Calvary assembled at the Uhlinger's home. The Rough Rider Calvary is part of the Nassau-Suffolk Horsemen's Association.

Among those in attendance were Nassau County Legis. Judy Jacobs (D-Woodbury).

"This was a delightful way to begin the day, to see the stable, the magnificent horses, and meet delightful people," Jacobs said. "The Uhlingers are very special people."
