Syosset's Lights Still Out Tuesday

LIPA outage map looks unchanged from Monday night.

Electricity was still out for thousands of Syosset homes on Tuesday morning as Sandy began to slowly roll out of the area.

According to Long Island Power Authority's outage map, nearly 8,000 Syosset and Woodbury residents were still in the dark Tuesday morning. LIPA urged residents to report outages online or call either 800-490-0075 or 631-755-6900.

The National Weather Service reported 72 mile per hour gusts of wind Monday afternoon as Sandy was coming ashore. As Sandy leaves the area, wind and flooding will still be a hazard.
