Syosset Week in Review: Dec. 11-17

A new fire commissioner, a student performance in front of millions, and a car crash that injured four people dominated last week's headlines.

 

Last week had some happy times, like when Syosset High School singers performed live on Good Day New York, and some unfortunate times, like the crash that injured four people on Berry Hill Road.

Four people were injured, two of them seriously, in a crash on Wednesday night on Berry Hill Road in Syosset, according to Nassau County Police.

Singers from  performed for millions of people Tuesday… from their chorus room. For the second time, Syosset's choral students were invited to perform on the FOX network's "Good Day New York" morning show.

Richard Roseo received 453 votes compared to incumbent Frank Vasile's 318 votes, making Roseo Syosset's new Fire Commissioner, according to fire officials. Robert Swanson, who ran unopposed, was voted to fulfill the last two years of former commissioner Ed Keenan's term

A payroll supervisor at Win Holt Equipment in Syosset was arrested and charged with falsifying records to pay herself $240,000, said Nassau County Police.

A Bay Shore woman was sentenced to 3-9 years in prison for driving drunk and crashing into a tree, which caused her 3-year-old to be paralyzed, according to Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice.
