Tell Us: Sandy's Effect on Thanksgiving

Will you help hand out meals instead of watching the parade? Are you taking in neighbors or loved ones who lost their homes?

The turkey is defrosted. The table is set. The power and cable are back on for the parade.

Another Thanksgiving is almost here, but we can all agree that this Thanksgiving will be bittersweet for many. Neighbors' lives are still bruised from the beating Hurricane Sandy gave Long Island nearly a month ago. Almost everyone knows someone who was affected by Sandy, a fact that has brought together the Long Island community by extending a neighborly hand.

How has Sandy altered your Thanksgiving plans? How has the storm changed your outreach to neighbors and loved ones?

Will you lend a hand at a soup kitchen or meals on wheels program instead of watching the parade at home? Did you simplify your Thanksgiving feast so you could donate food to needy Long Islanders? Are you bringing friends, families, or neighbors into your home because they no longer have a place to go?
