Weekend Planner: Fall Festivals Are Everywhere

Plan your perfect weekend with the family by heading to one of the many festivals and events this weekend.

Fall festivals and good causes are flooding the Syosset area this weekend. Head to one of these with the family:

Our Lady of Mercy Tower Run 5K
When: Sat., 9 a.m.
Where: Our Lady of Mercy Academy
Price: Depends on sponsorship, etc.
Run in honor of OLMA teacher MJ Lorello who lost her battle with lung cancer, the 5K sends proceeds to cancer research, patient care, and school programs. A shorter Family Fun Run is run at 8:30 a.m. Check full event details here.

Syosset Fall Festival
When: Sat., 11 a.m.
Where: Syosset LIRR parking lot
Price: Free
Food, games, and plenty of shopping, the Syosset Chamber of Commerce's Fall Festival ushers in merchants and residents from all over town. Check out photos here from last year's festival.

Planting Fields Fall Festival Family Weekend
When: Sat. and Sun., 11-5 p.m.
Where: Planting Fields Arboretum
Price: $20 per vehicle
Dozens of fun activities for kids and families, potato sack races, egg and spoon races, pumpkin painting, watercolor demonstrations and more. It's the quintessential fall festival! The event is held rain or shine. Check out event details here.

Sagamore Hill Day Family Festival
When: Sat., 11-4 p.m.
Where: Sagamore Hill National Historic Site
Price: Free
Happy birthday, Teddy! Celebrating Sagamore Hill's agricultural history and Theodore Roosevelt's 154th birthday, bring the family for games, crafts, food, petting zoo, and Roosevelt himself (played by Oyster Bay's star impersonator James Foote), it's a good old fashioned fall family day. 10th Annual Bay's Big Bash 2012
When: Sat., 12 p.m.
Where: Bayville UCP
Price: $40 per adult, $20 per child all inclusive tickets for food, entertainment, and games.
Celebrating cancer survivor Bailey Ryan, this party helps out the Winthrop University Hospital Cancer Center for Kids. This year’s event will celebrate the German Octoberfest theme featuring children's games and activities and raffles, live music with the Polka Brothers, Racket and 6GUN5, great food, awesome raffle and silent auction prizes and more.
