Woodbury Armed Robbery Accomplice Gets Up to 25 Years

Queens man who acted as driver during 2010 armed robbery in Woodbury will get up to 25 years in prison, said Nassau DA Tuesday.

A Queens man faces up to 25 years in prison after he was convicted of multiple felonies connected to a 2010 Woodbury home invasion, announced Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice Tuesday.

The jury deliberated for about a day, said Rice, before convicting Aadam Yusef, 30 of South Ozone Park, of first and second degree robbery, first degree burglary, and fourth degree conspiracy.

According to detectives, at 1:19 p.m. on Nov. 19, 2010 a 26-year-old female resident of a Woodbury home on Orchard Drive answered the doorbell to see a man holding a bouquet of flowers. When the woman opened the door, police said the subject, Randolph Chase, pointed a handgun at her and forced her to lie on the floor of the hallway, and three other male subjects, one armed with a handgun and one with a taser, exited a nearby van and entered the home.

Yusef was one of two drivers, said Rice, and it is believed the intruders had inside knowledge of the homeowners. Police arrested Chase, Michael Mohammed, and Glen Campbell later on the grounds of the Woodbury Country Club. Yusef and Goutam Persaud were arrested later in the day in a Woodbury Road parking lot. The last defendant, Jose Fuertes, was arrested the next day at his Brooklyn home.

Campbell pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 15 years in prison last October. Chase pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 14 years in prison last September. Mohammed and Fuertes each pleaded guilty and are awaiting sentencing. Persaud is awaiting trial. The jury rejected the defense’s claims that Yusuf was there but not involved in the robbery.
