Poll: Mangano Holds Lead in County Executive Race

With Election Day approaching, Ed Mangano leads Tom Suozzi 52 percent to 41 percent.

County Executive Ed Mangano continues to hold a double-digit lead over challenger Tom Suozzi, according to a poll released on Saturday night.

With only three days remaining until Election Day, Mangano is ahead 52 percent to 41 percent, while 7 percent said they either weren't sure or didn't have an opinion on the race. Among independents, Mangano held a large 59 percent to 31 percent advantage.

The tough news for Suozzi: 95 percent of those surveyed said they're unlikely to change their mind.

The poll was conducted by Siena College in conjunction with Cablevision's News 12 and Newsday. The same poll had Mangano, the Republican, ahead 52 percent to 35 percent a month ago.

The Siena Poll showed Democrat District Attorney Kathleen Rice comfortably ahead in her race.

The comptroller race was much tighter with challenger Howard Weitzman ahead of Republican George Maragos by a 46 percent to 43 percent margin.
