5th Annual Charity Event to Benefit Island HArvest

Melville, NY-October 10, 2013-In an effort to help end childhood hunger, the Casagrande family will hold its 5th annual Charity Event to benefit Island Harvest Food Bank, Long Island's largest hunger relief organization. The event will take place at the Casagrande residence, 19 Legends Circle, Melville, on  Sunday, October 13, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Admission to the event is free and will feature a variety of family fun activities, including blow-up rides, hair braiding, tattoos, magicians, pumpkin picking and more. Financial contributions of any kind are encouraged and will help support the 110,000 children on Long Island are at risk of hunger every day; a $50 donation can feed a child for about five weeks.

Hunger is a state in which people do not get enough food to provide the nutrients for active and healthy lives. It can result from 
the recurrent and involuntary lack of access to food. Nearly 300,000 Long 
Islanders — including over 110,000 children — face the risk of hunger everyday according to Island Harvest and Feeding America, a national hunger relief organization. Approximately 70,000 individuals seek food assistance in Nassau and Suffolk Counties each week through soup kitchensfood pantries and other feeding programs.
