Interfaith Celebration for Thanksgiving

Faith Lutheran Church was honored to host this year's Interfaith Thanksgiving service on November 24th.  Rabbi Rafi Rank, Chair of the Interfaith Clergy Council of Syosset-Woodbury, presided over the service which began with the processional song "Come, Ye Thankful People".

Following Thanksgiving prayers, Rabbi Jaimee Shalhevet of North Shore Synagogue delivered an inspirational message.  Throughout the service, beautiful musical offerings were sung by the combined choir which was directed by Faith Lutheran's organist and music director, Ilya Kazantsev.  Everyone enjoyed the guitar solo, "Sing unto God" and the hymns that were sung by all.

We were also invited to give thanks to Police Officers John Cincotta and Ernest Werner from the Second Precinct of the Nassau County Police Department.  They were presented with plaques which honored them for their dedication and hard work to keep our neighborhood safe.

All offerings went to the Interfaith Nutrition Network (INN).  The INN was founded in 1983 as a single soup kitchen in Hempstead.  Today, there are a total of 19 soup kitchens operating across Long Island and feeding more than 7,500 people each week.  As part of the INN's network, people are also helped with additional services such as emergency shelters and a long-term housing program.
