Toys for Tots Dropoff at Cold Spring Harbor Hatchery

The Cold Spring Harbor Fish Hatchery & Aquarium is pleased to announce that it will serve as a drop off site for the U.S. Marines Toys for Tots program.  Since 1947, during the Christmas holiday season, the U.S. Marines have been collecting toys for less fortunate children from donors who drop off the toys at various locations throughout the United States. Starting December 1st, donors may bring new, unwrapped toys to the Hatchery, or they may purchase a toy at a 10% discount in the Hatchery’s gift shop for donation to Toys for Tots.  By becoming a drop off site the Hatchery will assist the Marines with their special mission to bring the hope and joy of Christmas into the lives of needy children.

The Hatchery, which after 99 years of operation as a State facility, opened as a private non-profit educational institution in 1982.  Its visitors can tour two aquarium buildings which house many species of freshwater fish, aquatic reptiles and amphibians, all native to New York.
