Congratulations to Morrell Caterers on this victory in court and for standing up for what is right so that they can continue to do incredible parties for years to come. Any of us who have signed contracts know that they are not simply revocable at will. Both of these organizations have been around for decades and have built substantial followings. I think that as professionals and with some work, together they will move on together.

There is a criminal investigation by the nassau DA and is no less then 4 lawsuits by lanlords and employes. If there is proof that Morrell sold a pig in a poke( nopun intended) punitive damages are in order. If these planned attacks on Morrell was an effort to extort Morrell as the defense claims, the chef and the banquet manager should go to jail. I think the damage is done, but if they can work it out, the sooner the better.

I'm shocked that the temple would involve separate issues that have nothing to do with the matter at hand in their attempt to evict Morrell. The real crime here is that a "Rabbi" and a select board member/president judge before all facts are in....and use that as ammunition for something totally unrelated. I am outraged that these people would act as the judge and jury. Are we not supposed to view one as innocent till proven guilty. These individuals have by no means demonstrated that....and that is the disgrace here. I have one word for what's going on- and that is extortion. Morrell - you made the temple what it is today! Kudos to you.

Cindy should step down as president and an independent council appointed for mediation. I'm sure she got a good deal on the house partys for her kids so she has nothing to lose except face which is no big loss.time for a more cognitive and less emotional approach from cooler heads

The Woodbury Jewish Center is an organization that adds values and vibrancy to this community. Morrell seems like a greedy for profit caterer. He should be ashamed of himself for harming this temple.

What about what's right for the temple? Is it right that this caterer should hold back funds he owes them? If he doesn't like the deal he has with the temple he should leave.

morrell never harmed the temple, the rabbi of the jewish center is a foney ass hole that has no values of torah, i personally saw him put his yamalka in his pocket as soon as leaving the temple fraud

I am shocked and dismayed at the amount of antisemitism that supports this caterer; the intolerance is making me sick. "Morrell never harmed the temple"? Are you insane? He is accused of preparing non-kosher food and transporting it with kosher food from this synagogue, putting the synagogue's intergrity at risk. Maybe not to you "arik" but to many. He is accused of watering down alcohol he served to guests, effectively stealing from hosts. If "arik" and his views are consistent with other supporters of Mr. Morrell then perhaps they should all exit Woodbury for the good of the community.

Morrell's PR is nothing more than a house of cards. He currently owes the Woodbury Jewish Center 100s of thousands of dollars and hasn't paid his occupancy fee since January 2010. He's catered 100s of parties, charged millions to his clients and has not paid one penny to the WJC ! Draw your own conclusion. The WJC needs an exorcist, If you check the court records and judges decision, you'll find that his license has been terminated. This is public record.

I am not sure why you are shocked! Morrell has not paid occupancy fees to Woodbury Jewish Center in almost two and half years. In addition to that, Morrell has been charged with serious allegations that can potentially ruin the congregation’s reputation. A Rabbi’s trust is violated when a caterer, such as Scott Morrell, is even accused of violating kosher laws. Let me remind you, Morrell is being sued for preparing non-kosher food in kosher facilities, replacing high-end liquor with cheap brands, and of not paying proper wages and tips to workers. Scott Morrell lays the foundation of unethical behavior by not paying occupancy fees that exceed over $1,000,000. Therefore, it in his character to seize unethical opportunities‼ Woodbury Jewish Center has directly experienced Scott Morrell’s unethical behavior and by severing ties with him, they are stating that they DO NOT support individuals that break the rules. It is clear that Woodbury Jewish Center is only trying to repair the damage that Scott Morrell has done to their “shem tov.”

To JD Gildberg- why don't you get your facts straight first? You speak from a place of ignorance. You are clueless as to the facts. The temple is not after Morrell because of tainted food, they are trying to further extort him by bringing up unrelated issues. The temple has been greedy and keeps wanting and wanting. They give the temple a bad name. They would be NOWHERE without the caterer. The president and so called rabbi are a disgrace to the community. They should be ashamed. And the president should step down already. She's a beast and is overly emotional at best. For the rabbi I have no further comment- except that you are what's tainted..... What I see here is pure jealousy and greed by a temple towards a caterer. Seen and heard it before..... And by the way, I love how everyone has the answers and knows the real deal as to what's going on. Amazing how many attorneys and judges we have out there. Lol- you nay Sayers are pathetic.
Cat123 May 05, 2012 at 11:32 AM
Stuart- you are actually the one who's making ME sick. Your bs comments are inane. You said it yourself- all allegations - no facts. Just spewing ......
Dan May 08, 2012 at 07:01 PM
I too am disgusted by the number of false assumptions and conclusions people are drawing that are based on no facts at all. It seems like many people already have all of the answers to their own questions? This forum is supposed to be news. It is not a vehicle for tarnishing a company's reputation or to attempt a character assassination. I agree that it is important to get your facts straight first everyone!

I think JD is right!!

I can speak to something that is fact. I had my wedding at temple israel not too long ago and when one of the religious guests asked to see a the bottle of wine to make sure it was actually kosher, the server brought it over and it was indeed NOT kosher. Of course the server was not to be seen again. That is a fact. When this process is over and he will likely be proven guilty in one way or another, I will jump on the class action and watch his company be torn to shreds. While I will not likely see a dollar from any proceeding, at least we can be sure that this criminal will pay with his honor (or whats left of it).
