Deadline Hits for Deck Your House Contest

Finalists will be chosen and you will be able to vote for your favorite on Dec. 30.

Imagine being able to take out your checkbook and with a few scratches of your pen, do the following for Syosset schools:

  • Save the positions for two full time teachers for an entire school year, with money leftover for teacher aids.

  • Pay for Syosset High School commencement ceremonies... for the next three years.

  • Pay for almost all the new textbooks required by every single Syosset elementary school student for an entire year.

  • Employ a social worker for a year with enough leftover to hire a lifeguard for the pool.

Patch.com's Deck Your House contest ended on Dec. 26 at 11:59 p.m.

24 finalists will get $500 to put toward their electric bill and one will be chosen as the grand prize winner of $100,000 for their school district.

From Dec. 30 through Jan. 8 you will be able to vote for the Best Decked House in all of Patch. The grand prize winner’s school district will receive a $100,000 check to go straight to their schools.

Can you nominate another family's home in the area?
Heather Doyle December 25, 2011 at 07:44 pm
Well, they should do it themselves so we have their contact information. It also tells us they gave permission for their house to be in the contest. So if you see a house that looks like a winner, don't be afraid to go and tell them to enter the contest!
Just make sure they're in the Syosset zip code!

Thanks Heather! But they are in 11797/Woodbury on Chauncey - THE BEST I'VE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE! It left me speechless. We drive around (as a tradition every year) looking at everyone's decorations & ighting. I took a picture of it last night, but it doesn't do it justice!

Yes, that is out of the contest jurisdiction unfortunately. However, if you see any within the Syosset zip, definitely urge them to enter!

For instance, critical thinking is not about finding fault with people who make noise by using leafRead More blowers, but about an in-depth thinking of goals and values we will achieve by limiting their use. People could earn more quality life and peace of mind by having quiet time in the early morning and the late evening. The value of mental peace is regarded crucial in our life. Critical thinking gives us a process of thinking to get into the depth of the problem. It begins with an analysis of the situation (structure, background, or setting), in which the information of when, where, and who is identified. The information may help set up seasonal differences in restricting hours of leaf blower operation. Further thinking will lead critical thinkers to note the implication of the new ordinance to the business of licensed landscapers. Also, critical thinkers may think about the development of a soundproof leaf blowing machine. Critical thinking helps us to increase and share our common values, rather than tries to find faults with people who make problems.
