Syosset VS Port Washington Game Preview

Jake Asman breaks down the Nassau Class "A" Semi Final matchup between Syosset and Port Washington.

When: Wednesday night at 8:00

Where:
Hofstra’s Shuart Stadium

Offensive Keys:
Syosset has to move the ball more quickly and cut down on their turnovers. Against MacArthur the Braves could not find any offensive rhythm due to self-inflicted mistakes. Syosset has to be prepared for Port Washington's potential zone defense. Tom Rooney is an excellent head coach and will give the Braves a run for their money defensively.

Offensive X-Factor: Senior mid fielder John Diaz. If Diaz is able to do his part at the face-off circle, the Braves will dictate the tempo of the offense all night. Diaz will also have to create scoring chances on the transition. He has done a tremendous job of setting up his teammates all season, as he currently leads the Braves in assists with 19.

Offense Quote:
“We have to move the ball out there to be successful,” said junior attack Anthony Carchietta. “We have been stressing that this week in practice, and I feel that we are going to do a much better job at that on Wednesday night.”

Defensive Keys:
Syosset has to continue to slide well on defense. Led by seniors Kyle Haber and Harry Schoenhaut, the Braves must protect goalie Ryan Feit in the net. Feit, who was fantastic against MacArthur, will be pivotal in helping Syosset bring home the W. Junior Liam Blohm and freshman Ej Aronson will also play a pivotal role in stopping the high scoring Port Washington offense led by Johns Hopkins bound attack, John Crawley.

Defensive X-Factor:
Senior goalie Ryan Feit. Feit has had another All-American season and continues to keep the Braves in every game they play. If Feit is at his best, than the Braves have a great chance of containing Port Washington’s offense.

Defense Quote:
“We have had a great week of practice,” said Feit. “We have to now go out there and play like a team if we want to win. I believe in the guys in that locker room and we are looking forward to playing a great game on Wednesday.”

Prediction:
In a back and forth game, the Braves prevail in the end, and, for the second straight season, will advance to the Nassau Class “A” championship.
