11 Years Later, 9/11 Remembered Quietly

After the 10th anniversary, have remembrances quieted down?

Tuesday marks the 11th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Families and friends will gather at churches, fire houses, police stations, and memorial sites to remember so many whose lives were cut short that day.

This year's anniversary will not feature much of the pomp and circumstance of previous years, especially last year's major 10-year milestone. While former ceremonies were drawn out and majorly symbolic, many have now evolved into more intimate remembrance ceremonies, like those held locally on Veterans' Day and Pearl Harbor Day.

Do you think the muted ceremonies will become a trend for remembering September 11, 2001? As New Yorkers, will we forever take a more pregnant pause on this day? Is it the ceremony that matters or the simple act of remembering? Share your thoughts and your ways of remembering 9/11 in the comments below.
