Syosset Then and Now Answer: From Speakeasy to Parking Lot

Old Boslet's is now the Astoria Federal Savings parking lot.

As you glide through the parking lot of while running errands or sip hot chocolate at the , be advised that you're standing at the site of an old Syosset speakeasy.

This week's question was answered in three parts. Patch user correctly guessed pinpointed this spot as the former Boslet's. Patch user went even further back and correctly stated that this began as the turn of the century Yanke Spreer's Hotel. Finally, user pinpointed the present-day Boslet's as the parking lot of Astoria Federal Savings.

Boslet's survived Prohibition as Syosset's very own speakeasy, made it through World War II, and even holds the title as Syosset's first television owner.

After the lease and New York State liquor license expired, the Boslets sold the property and the structure was razed in 1955.
