Syosset Then and Now Answer: P.O. Boxes Past

Letters from generations past were locked away safely in this contraption at the Syosset Post Office.

Patch reader correctly identified

"Looks like an old P.O. Box..."

took it a step further and recalled where the old Syosset post offices once stood:

"There were two old post offices on Jackson Avenue. The first one was north of Hurley's Dress Shop and Albanese's Fruit Store. The second post office more north where Jackson Avenue turns into Cold Spring Road - in the vicinity of Ralph's Rotten Nut store."
