Nassau County Police detectives are investigating the death of a woman discovered floating in Oyster Bay Cove Thursday afternoon.

The victim is described as a white female in her 40s, but a positive identification has not yet been made, reported police. Detectives say they are investigating her death as a possible drowning.

A mosquito carrying the West Nile Virus has been found in a trap in Bayville, according to the Nassau County Department of Health.

In total, the virus has been detected in mosquitoes at four trap locations in Nassau County including Bayville, Lakeview and Mineola.
