A fire destroyed a car and held up traffic on the Long Island Expressway Tuesday afternoon.

At about 4 p.m. Tuesday, amid rush hour traffic, Syosset Fire Department responded to a car fire on the LIE between exits 42 and 43. The right lane was closed for several exits while fire fighters extinguished the flames.

A mosquito carrying the West Nile Virus has been found in a trap in Bayville, according to the Nassau County Department of Health.

In total, the virus has been detected in mosquitoes at four trap locations in Nassau County including Bayville, Lakeview and Mineola.

The Oyster Bay Historical Society honored its "Top Advocates for Historical Preservation and Education" with awards presented at the Woodlands Mansion in Woodbury this week.
