Faith Lutheran Celebrates 60 Years

Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church is inviting the community to help celebrate the congregation's 60th anniversary. From meager beginnings, the congregation has grown into a close knit family within the Syosset community.

Flipped Car Halts LIE Traffic

A flipped car on the Long Island Expressway sent the driver to a local hospital and tied up traffic in both directions for more than an hour Thursday, authorities said.

3-Car Collision Halts Jericho Turnpike

A three-car accident halted traffic on Jericho Turnpike in Syosset Thursday afternoon. One person was sent to the hospital.

At about 2:30 p.m., a white sedan collided with a white minivan on Jericho Turnpike in front of the former Borders bookstore. The front of the white sedan was crushed and the airbag had deployed.

Cops: 17 Car Related Crimes in 2 Weeks

Nassau County Police reported 17 different car related crimes in Syosset and neighboring communities within a 15-day period.

In total, three cars were stolen, five cars had personal belongings stolen from them, and nine cars sustained damage and vandalism.

Strong Storms Rip North Shore; Driving is Hazardous

A band of heavy thunderstorms swept across the North Shore of Long Island just before noon Friday, bringing torrential rain and flash flooding and causing street closings.

In the Torah, the Book of Leviticus commands that the 10th day of the 7th month called Tishrei be set aside as the "Sabbath of Sabbaths," a day of fasting and reflection for the atonement of sins.

Critical thinking helps us to increase and share our common values, rather than tries to find faults with people who make problems.
