31 LIJSL Soccer Teams to Play in the Eastern New York Premier League This Spring

The Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA) is pleased to announce that 83 Premier teams––49 boys squads and 34 girls teams––will be kicking off the 2014 Eastern New York Premier League (ENYPL) season on Saturday, March 15. The 83 teams playing is a 17% increase from last year. Every team will be competing in six regular season games this spring.

“By playing a reduced six-game schedule with playoffs, ENYPL teams now have the option of rejoining Division 1 of their own member league, making those leagues stronger in the process,” ENYPL Director Steve Padaetz stated.

Nine of Eastern New York’s 11 leagues are sending teams. 31 teams are coming from the Long Island Junior Soccer League, 16 teams from the Capital District Youth Soccer League, 15 teams from the East Hudson Youth Youth Soccer League, five teams each from the Cosmopolitan Junior Soccer League, Staten Island Youth Soccer League and Westchester Youth Soccer League, four teams from the Hudson Valley Youth Soccer League plus one team each from the Central New York Youth Soccer League and Metrokids Interregional Soccer League.

The 83 teams are from across Eastern New York, from Utica to the East End of Long Island, a 290-mile distance.

“The strength of our Premier League was demonstrated last June when two teams who played in the league last year, the Bayport Tsunami and FC Somers Razors, won the State Open Cup,” Director Padaetz added.

The winner of each division automatically qualifies for entry into the Northeast Regional Premier League (NERP) in 2015.
