Services Set for Former Syosset High School Aide

Oyster Bay woman, formerly of Syosset, was 76.

Services have been set for Oyster Bay's Arlene Mary O'Keefe, who died Sunday at 76.

The Brooklyn-born St. John's University graduate joined the Dominican sisters in Sparkhill in 1954. In 1960, she left and became a researcher for Crowell-Collier Magazine. She also worked as an aide in Syosset High School and as an intelligence analyst for the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

In 1961, she married and settled in Syosset, where she raised her family for 38 years. In 2002, she moved to Oyster Bay.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, John, daughters Margaret and Christa, sons Sean and Brian, and grandchildren Delaney and Macaire.

Wake will be held Wednesday 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A funeral mass will be held Thursday at 9:45 a.m. at St. Edward the Confessor Church followed by a burial at St. Margaret's Cemetery in Plainview.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Care Network, 99 Sunnyside Boulevard, Woodbury, would be appreciated.
