Sushi lounges have become a growing restaurant trend over the last few years. While these upscale locales initially flourished in Manhattan, they branched out to Long Island; Nisen in Woodbury is the perfect example of a hot spot featuring modern Japanese cuisine.
Conveniently located yet tucked away, Nisen features unique versions of sushi classics and is a great place to drink, dance and meet with friends. On Thursday nights, Nisen hosts “Nis(zen)” – the restaurant’s version of Ladies Night. Ladies drink free from 8:00pm to 9:00pm and complimentary appetizers are served from 9:00pm until 10:00pm. Thursday night also features a DJ beginning at 8:00pm, playing Zen lounge music and Top 40 hits.
Happy Hour at Nisen takes place from 5:00pm until 7:00pm, Tuesday through Friday. During Happy Hour the bartenders serve up $5 specialty martinis, $3 draft beers and half price items from Nisen’s bar/lounge menu. Be sure to ask about wine selections by the glass and featured seasonal saki, as well.
Nisen’s Facebook and Twitter pages are updated regularly, and special deals and promotions are posted on the sites every few days. The restaurant is currently holding a contest for a cocktail party for five people, which will include drinks and chef’s selection of appetizers during happy hour on the date of the winner’s choosing. Also, if you “Like” Nisen on Facebook, you receive a certificate for a complimentary signature cocktail.
