4 Injured in Berry Hill Road Crash Wednesday

Two cars collide on Berry Hill Road; 4 rushed to Nassau trauma center.

Four people were injured, two of them seriously, in a crash on Wednesday night on Berry Hill Road in Syosset, according to Nassau County Police. 

The incident occurred just south of the intersection of Berry Hill and Horton roads in Syosset at about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday night, reported police. A white midsize sedan collided with a large black GMC Acadia on Berry Hill Road.

After the accident, the two cars involved sat on either side of the road with debris strewn between them. The white sedan sat in the northbound lane with the nose of the car almost completely demolished. The GMC sat on the curb of the southbound lane, its front end also significantly damaged.

Police, fire and EMS crews responded to the scene to attend to the injured and to put out a fire on one of the cars involved. East Norwich and Jericho fire departments also responded to the crash. It was reported that of a total six people traveling in the two cars, four of whom were injured and rushed to Nassau trauma centers. Two were reported to be seriously injured.

Traffic was closed on Berry Hill Road from the accident scene at Horton Road through Church Street near the offices. The road will remain closed to traffic pending the status of injured individuals.
