Baby Formula Thief Strikes CVS

Suspect caught on camera taking baby formula, valued at nearly $600, from Huntington Station store.

Suffolk County Police are searching for the man who took 26 cans of baby formula Monday from the CVS on Jericho Turnpike in Huntington Station.

Police released photos of the man taken from surveillance cameras that caught him in the act. The cans, valued at nearly $600, were taken from the display, police said.

The suspect left the store without paying for merchandise and was seen getting into the passenger side of a black Infiniti four-door sedan.

Baby formula is a favorite target of shoplifting rings around the nation, according to the Food Marketing Institute. But Suffolk Police said they do not track such statistics locally.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.

All calls will be kept confidential.

Poor guy. Probably spends his money on taxes and gasoline and can't afford to get milk for the baby.

Someone just told me that drug dealers use the powder baby formula to mix with cocaine. Was it liquid or powder formula that he stole?

Police said cans. I assume that's not dry milk.

Supposedly, an Asian fellow, every Tuesday, goes to BuyBuy Baby and buys every single container of the Similac Advanced w/Iron. I doubt his kid is that hungry... I suspect he's cutting his drugs w/it as well. It's up to the formula manufacturers to come up with a solution

Dry formula is in cans, so I guess we will find out once they catch him. It's just the Infiniti is throwing me off. IMHO, If you can afford an Infiniti, you can afford formula. I just hope it's to feed his kid, not saying it's right to steal. NYS has programs to help babies with formula "WIC".
