He combined a quick, no nonsense dispatching style with a serendipitous ability to make friends, and is being mourned by fellow firefighters and dispatchers up and down the east coast. Harold "Harry" Doyle, respected Syosset Fire Department dispatcher, died Sunday of a heart attack.

School Bus Crashes into Syosset Home
A bus with six children on board crashed into a Syosset home and sent the driver to the hospital Wednesday afternoon, according to Nassau County Police.

Fire Tears Through Caracalla Restaurant
Syosset Fire Department responded to multiple calls about smoke billowing from a building on Jericho Turnpike at about 12:05 a.m. Saturday, said Syosset Fire Chief Robert Kaplan. Upon arrival, they found all three floors of Caracalla fully engulfed in flames. Kaplan said the fire appeared to have started in the basement.

Car Fire Halts LIRR Service
MTA police have charged Juanke Kimble Jr., 36 of Roosevelt, with aggravated unlawful operation of a motor vehicle after police and fire crews responded to a car fire on the LIRR tracks in Syosset Wednesday.

Nissan Crashes into El Parral
Syosset Fire Department and second precinct officers responded to a call at 10:29 a.m. Thursday that a car had crashed into El Parral, reported police. The building suffered minor structural damage to the storefront but no injuries were reported.

Shelter Rock Church Damaged in Kitchen Fire
Syosset Fire Department responded to the alarm at 2:39 p.m. Saturday and found that the kitchen at Shelter Rock Church was engulfed in flames. Firefighters extinguished the fire before it could spread to any other part of the building, but responders reported extensive fire damage to the kitchen and heavy smoke damage throughout the church.

Fire Tears Through Vacant Woodbury Home
Syosset Fire Chief Robert Kaplan said upon arrival at the reportedly vacant house, first responders found the home fully engulfed with flames eminating from the roof and windows. Jericho, Plainview, and Huntington Manor fire departments were called in to aid in extinguishing the blaze.

Two Hospitalized in Warehouse Fire
The Syosset Fire Department responded to Commodities Assistance Corporation at about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday to find the warehouse billowing smoke. Syosset and Hicksville firefighters extinguished the fire and remained on the scene to ventilate the smokey building.

Fire Destroys Car on Forest Drive
Several Syosset Fire Department units responded to 59 Forest Drive at around 2 a.m. Friday and found a white 2009 Acura TSX parked in the street with flames coming from the passenger side hood. No one was injured in the blaze. Syosset Fire Chief Robert Kaplan said the fire was not deemed suspicious.
