Brush Fire Risk for Friday Afternoon
Syosset Fire Department had to deal with one earlier this month.
Friday's weather forecast from the National Weather Service includes a warning concerning the possible rapid spread of brush fires. Minimum relative humidity of between 20 and 25 percent and westerly winds increasing to between 10 and 15 miles an hour make conditions conducive should a fire spark up.
The Syosset Fire Department has already had to deal with one this month. On April 6 volunteers responded to brush burning at the end of Yukon Road in Woodbury.
