Car Break-Ins Continue

Valuables left in cars continue to be targets in and near Syosset.

The trend of car break-ins continued as Nassau County Police reported over a dozen car-related crimes in the Syosset area in about two weeks.

The parking lots of the gyms Sportime in Syosset and Equinox in Woodbury were targeted. Three cars were broken into around the same time on Oct. 9 at Sportime, with one break-in resulting in a stolen iPhone. At Equinox, a dufflebag and a checkbook were stolen from a car.

Car break-ins have been a continuing trend in the area, as seen in previous crime reports.

Second Precinct detectives reported the following crimes:

  • Sept. 26: Grand larceny; Orchard Street, Plainview; car stolen.
  • Sept. 27: Grand larceny; Jay Dee Transportation, Hicksville; van stolen.
  • Sept. 28: Grand larceny; Rubies Costume Company, Jericho; truck tires and batteries stolen from car.
  • Sept. 28: Grand larceny; South Mall, Plainview; truck tires and batteries stolen from car.
  • Sept. 28: Grand larceny; Dunkin Donuts, Syosset; Macbook, iPad, checkbooks stolen from car.
  • Sept. 30: Criminal mischief; Putt Avenue, South Farmingdale; window broken on car.
  • Sept. 30: Grand larceny; Walnut Avenue, East Norwich; wallet, gift cards, cash stolen from car.
  • Oct. 2: Grand larceny; Jerusalem Avenue, Hicksville; two back pack blowers stolen from car.
  • Oct. 4: Grand larceny; Martha Boulevard, Bethpage; car stolen.
