Cops: Accused Bank Robber Captured

Nassau County Police report the capture of a Hicksville man; one burglary reported within two week period in Syosset.

Nine burglaries and five robberies were reported over a two-week period in the Syosset area, according to Nassau County Police.

Cops said Syosset, Farmingdale, Hicksville, Levittown, Oyster Bay, Plainview, and Bethpage were all victimized in reported break-ins and altercations.

In Syosset, a burglary was reported on Morris Drive April 19. Police reported a screen had been sliced open in an attempted break-in, but nothing was taken from the scene.

In Plainview, Nassau County Detectives arrested a Hicksville man in connection with two bank robberies a block apart this year, including one Saturday. Evan Kerpen, 34, of Hicksville, was arrested and charged with four counts of robbery in connection with Saturday's heist at the Bank of America on South Oyster Bay Road and a January bank job at the TD Bank on Old Country Road. Read the full story here.

  • April 22: Burglary; Staples Street, Farmingdale; attempted entry through sliding doors, nothing taken.
  • April 23: Burglary; Radio Shack, Hicksville; attempted break-in at front entrance, nothing taken.
  • April 23: Burglary; Choopan Grill, Hicksville; sodas, frozen food stolen.
  • April 24: Nick's Hairstyle, Hicksville; cash stolen.
  • April 25: Burglary; Hicks Deli, Hicksville; attempted break-in through rear door, nothing taken.
  • April 30: Burglary; E-Waste Solutions, Farmingdale; scrap electronic circuit boards reported stolen.
  • April 30: Burglary; Condor Road, Levittown; jewelry stolen. April 30: Hill Drive, Oyster Bay; assorted jewelry stolen. 
  • April 21: Robbery; Citibank, Levittown; cash stolen.
  • April 25: Robbery; Daniel Drive/Phipps Lane, Plainview; Oxycodone stolen.
  • April 25: Robbery; Main Street, Farmingdale; cell phone stolen.
  • April 27: Robbery; Bank of America, Plainview; cash stolen.
  • April 29: Robbery; 7-Eleven, Bethpage; Entenmann's donuts stolen.
