Cops: DWI with 4-Year-Old Passenger

Bohemia man arrested Wednesday night after striking guardrail on Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway in Woodbury.

A Suffolk County man with a 4-year-old passenger was arrested by Nassau County Police in Woodbury Wednesday night and charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated.

Police said Daryl Veit, 42, of Bohemia, struck a guardrail at Exit 13 of the Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway while driving northbound in a 2007 Ford Explorer. Exit 13 is the Long Island Expressway.

The incident happened at approximately 8:20 p.m. Veit was treated at a local hospital for a minor back pain while his young passenger was unharmed, police said.

The child was released to his mother while Veit has been charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, child under 15, under Leandra's Law and DWI.

He will be arraigned Thursday at First District Court in Hempstead.
