When the car reached Exit 43 in Syosset, cops said Thompson tried to maneuver around traffic on the service road by reentering the highway. It was there that Thompson reportedly crashed into a tractor trailer and then into a police vehicle. Police were then able to apprehend Thompson, who sustained a minor injury to the hand.

Officers and the driver of the truck Thompson reportedly hit escaped unharmed, cops said.

Thompson is charged with DWI, unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, reckless driving, and speeding.
