Update: Lanes Reopened After Accident on LIE

Some eastbound lanes closed until further notice, according to police.

Nassau County Police have reopened two lanes of the Long Island Expressway Monday after a car accident.

Officers announced at at about 4:30 p.m. Monday, the HOV and left lanes of the eastbound LIE would be closed near Exit 40.

The lanes were closed as crews and responders secured the scene of the accident. 

As of 5:43 p.m., lanes were reopened to traffic.
