Cops: Man Killed in LIE Crash

Police say man lost control of his car, struck the median, and crashed into a wall.

A man has died after striking a wall on the Long Island Expressway in Jericho, Nassau County Police confirmed.

At 3:37 a.m. Friday, a 47-year-old man was driving east on the LIE near Exit 41, cops said. He lost control of the black Nissan SUV, struck the center median, and crossed over four lanes and struck a wall, police said.

Emergency crews rushed the man to the hospital where he was pronounced dead at 4:11 a.m. by emergency room staff, police said.

The man's identity has not yet been released pending family notification.

No criminality is suspected in the crash at this time, police said.

Cops say the investigation is ongoing.

Police closed all four eastbound lanes of the LIE immediately following the accident. They reopened the HOV, left, and middle lanes at 7 a.m.
