A Syosset High School student was arrested Wednesday morning for making alleged terroristic threats, police say.

According to detectives, a teacher at Syosset High School was talking with Alexander I. Passe, 17, of Syosset. During the conversation Passe stated that he was unhappy at the school and “ wants to blow it up.”

The incident was reported to the administration who then notified the police. Second Squad detectives responded to Passe’s residence and placed him under arrest without incident at 8:15 a.m.

Passe was charged with one count of making terroristic threats. He was arraigned on Thursday at First District Court in Hempstead.

From the sound of it, I wouldn't exactly call it a threat. He was expressing his feelings. How is that different when someone suggests they want to kill someone. We've all used that expression but we're not charged with planning a murder.

Must, MUST overreact to anything school related. Sad thing is that by showing the mentally troubled how much drama and attention you get by targeting schools, you are just encouraging more of this fame seeking stuff at the very place you are trying to prevent it from occuring.

In this climate, EVERY threat verbal or otherwise require instant action. Zero tolerance....period. Learn another way to vent anger or frustration.
