Cops: Syosset Man Dies After Three-Car Accident

73-year-old died of critical injuries after Monday morning accident on Jericho Turnpike, police report.

A Syosset man has died after sustaining critical injuries in a Jericho accident Monday morning, according to Nassau County Police.

According to detectives, a 72-year old man was driving a 2013 Mercedes Benz near Old Hamlet Drive when he rear ended with a 2011 Infinity driven by 73-year-old Medhat Sami of Syosset.

The collision happened at 9:57 a.m. Monday in the westbound lanes of Jericho Turnpike in Jericho, cops said.

Sami, who was stopped at a traffic light, then collided with a 1999 Ford van driven by a 70-year-old man, also stopped at a light, cops said.

Sami was rushed to Nassau University Medical Center for critical injuries, cops reported. He was pronounced dead at 11 a.m. by a staff doctor, police announced.

The first driver was treated for neck pain and hand lacerations at Jericho Fire Department, police reported. The third driver reported no injuries.

Police do not suspect any criminality with the accident.

All cars involved were towed for brake and safety inspections.
