Watches, cash, and a wedding band were stolen from lockers at Lifetime Fitness in Syosset on three occasions between Sept. 11 and 13, say Nassau police.

Other recent thefts reported by the second precinct were slightly more puzzling: Four batteries were stolen from a message board on the LIE near Jericho between Aug. 30 and Sept. 11 and a computer, blank checks and an AC unit were stolen from Garden State Florist in Syosset.

Four cars were also stolen between Sept. 13 and 14: A 2001 Oldsmobile from Stewart Avenue in Bethpage, a 2012 Volkswagon from Bethpage Road in Hicksville, a 2004 Infiniti from the Citgo gas station in Hicksville, 2010 Nissan from the Plainview Jewish Center.

Other incidents reported in the second precinct:
  • A car was damaged by BB gun pellets and its windshield smashed on W. Marie Street in Hicksville on Sept. 12
  • A car tire was punctured and its license plate stolen on Main Parkway West in Plainview Sept. 15
  • An attempted burglary occurred at the Bethpage Diner on Sept. 14

This happens at LIFETIME because they let anyone in. They need to be more strict. I workout there 3 days a week and I always see people that can't possibly be members. People that look like they are up to know good. They charge enough of a monthly membership so keep the dirtbags out.
