Cops: Woman Tried to Return Items Bought With Counterfeit Cash

Woman faces 14 counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument.

A Hempstead woman faces a battery of charges after Nassau County Police say she tried to return merchandise to Home Depot after buying it with counterfeit cash.

According to Second Precinct officers, Jamese Williams, 28, of Hempstead, went to the Syosset Home Depot Tuesday and tried to return merchandise.

A female manager informed officers, who had just responded to Home Depot for a larceny arrest, that Williams was trying to return items she had bought earlier in the day at the Jericho Home Depot, cops said.

Officers determined that Williams bought a Milwaukee Rotary Hammer and a Bosch Router for a total of $900 using counterfeit $100 bills, reported police.
An investigation proved WIlliams had another four $100 bills on her person and she was arrested at the scene, cops reported.

WIlliams is charged with 14 counts of first-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument and petit larceny. She will be arraigned Wednesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
