Rockville Centre
A Rockville Centre woman pleaded guilty Wednesday after using fake Craigslist ads for nonexistent jobs and apartments to steal steal hundreds of identities nationwide and filing hundreds of fraudulent tax returns, according to the Nassau County District Attorney's Office. Susan Pemberton, 43, of Rockville Centre, pleaded guilty to grand larceny in the third degree, scheme to defraud in the first degree, offering a false instrument for filing, and identity theft in the second degree. She faces two to four years in prison at her Jan. 23 sentencing.
According to the Nassau County DA's office, Pemberton, along with Cynthia Sibert, 23, of Roslyn, requested more than $500,000 in state income tax refunds, which raised flags at the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance. They also used the stolen identities to apply for bank loans and credit cards and stole a total of more than $75,000. Throughout the nearly two-year long scam, the women placed ads on Craigslist for employment opportunities and apartment rentals that didn’t exist, Rice said. They sent their victims employment and rental applications that sought personal information and used that data to file more than 250 fraudulent tax returns, and to obtain bank loans and credit cards in their victims’ names.

A Rockville Centre man and known Bloods gang member was arrested Monday in relation to a shooting that occurred on Aug. 7. According to Rockville Centre Police, Michael Harris, 23, has been charged with assault in the second degree, criminal use of a firearm in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree. Harris was arraigned on Oct. 9 at First District Court regarding the charges.
Nesconset
Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and the Fourth Precinct are searching for two people accused of grand larceny. Police say two people, one man and one woman, who are accused of stealing a wallet from an unlocked car parked on Robin Hood Court in Nesconset on Sept. 7.
Huntington
Suffolk County Police are seeking the man behind a robbery and assault Wednesday afternoon along New York Avenue in Huntington Station. A man pulled two yellow metal chain necklaces off of a male victim, and when the victim's brother tried to assist him, the thief knocked him to the ground and took $15, police said. Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000.00 for information that leads to an arrest.
Hempstead
A Westbury man was arrested on charges of public lewdness Oc.10 in Hempstead. According to detectives, the 18 year old victim, was standing outside her apartment, when Dodge pickup truck driven by Jeffrey Lichtenberger, 37,pulled up beside her. He allegedly exited his vehicle, walked next to her yard and pulled his pants down exposing himself to her before leaving the area. The defendant was arrested later without incident. Lichtenberger is charged with public lewdness.
West Babylon
A motorcyclist lost part of his leg and a driver was arrested on charges of driving while his ability was impaired by drugs following a car crash in West Babylon on Sunday evening, according to the Suffolk County Police Department. police said Raymond Card, 48, was struck at the intersection of Van Buren Street by a 2003 Chrysler. He was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where doctors amputated his left leg below the knee. The driver of the Chrysler, James Kavanaugh, 22, of West Babylon, was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle while his ability was impaired by drugs.
Northport
Homeowners on Main Street told police that a woman dressed as a pirate driving a black Kia entered their parking lot, exited her vehicle, and made small crosses on their signs and traffic posts on Oct. 4.
